Friday, July 4, City of Mount Olympus, The College Inn. Veronica and Cleo pick at their bon voyage lunch of nachos (the house specialty). Cleo seems distracted and Veronica is, too. When she’d suggested Clifford, Director of Computer and Architectural Services and also her fiancé, engage Poseidon as a consultant for Seattle’s seawall problem, he’d gone huffy. Was separating their work life from their personal lives now an issue? Cleo spills the discovery of a woman in David’s bed and her realization that she, herself, loves him!
That evening at Club Dionysus, Hermes, having caved to Monique’s erotic hold over him, joins her for dinner. Monique taunts him into offering her a thrill: a costumed night of passion in the vault in the seventh basement of Olympus, Inc., where evil force The Power is confined in a charmed black box. . .
Saturday, July 5, Olympus, Inc. Clifford recruits Poseidon to reinforce the Seattle seawall, the faulty barrier between Elliott Bay and an underground highway tunnel. In words laced with macho menace and double entendre, Poseidon refuses. He implies Clifford is taking orders from Veronica, “a skirt.” Clifford cajoles him to accept by suggesting Poseidon’s isn’t fit to perform the needed task.
Beyond Big-G City: Life as God of the Sea isn’t always a “day at the beach”- -just ask Poseidon. . .
Monique awakes in The Power’s detention cell, hung over and wearing a disheveled milkmaid costume. Hermes is nearby, in the tattered remains of lederhosen. Though The Power’s black box appears intact, she senses something’s not right. They exit the cell, not noticing a wild blip on a security monitor as they pass.
Veronica invites David out to breakfast. Though intent on learning the identity of the woman Cleo heard in his bed, David instead stuns Veronica with his speculation that Herod Antipas is his birth father!
On Wednesday July 9, Aphrodite invites arch-enemy and mother-in-law Hera to lunch at Club Dionysus. Aphrodite leads with the proposed collaboration between Love, Inc., and Marriage and the Media, which she now realizes can save her business empire. When Hera dismisses the proposal, Aphrodite turns to blackmail! She reminisces about a long-ago trip to Tiberius. And a certain young man who played and sang so beautifully at Herod’s palace. And how much that young man looked like David. She suggests Hera consider the business proposal more carefully if she wants to keep the story private.
Thursday July 10 finds Clifford and Poseidon on the Seattle waterfront, assessing the seawall. Poseidon estimates it will hold for six months, max. Though he doesn’t want the job, he knows Veronica, as Olympus, Inc., CEO, will axe his big nepotistic salary if he declines. . .
