Mysterious back spasms! Allergy-inducing felines! The Power is up to- -something!
Week Seven:
August 8-14, 2025
Alone in her private office on Friday, August 8, Monique Reynard reviews the details of the deal she’s sealed between Love, Inc., and Hera’s Marriage and the Media program. Confident that Love, Inc., will now survive by virtue of their new costume gift bags line, she takes her first easy breath in a long time but- -what are these sudden and agonizing muscle spasms in her lower back? Zero workouts and too much desk time, which also explains her bulging midsection. Nothing that can’t be solved by a bottle of wine and a soak in the Jacuzzi. . .
Monday, August 11, Clifford Essex has just returned from Seattle. He burns to discuss his growing concern about the seawall project with Veronica, but has arrived after Olympus, Inc., office hours- -a time at which, since their engagement, they have agreed to stop discussing work for the day. As they sip wine in her condo and make plans for dinner Clifford sneezes violently in reaction to Veronica’s beloved kitty, Bill Gates, Jr, while silently fretting about Poseidon’s dire prediction: that the seawall could fail at any time and take a shocking number of mortal lives with it! He mulls the desperate and dangerous idea of putting his own father, Ralph (via old-time structureling technology), into the seawall as a stop-gap measure until a lasting solution can be found.
By Wednesday, August 13, Hermes feels a complete and utter failure. In addition to his lack of progress in solving climate change, he’s now taxed with Apollo’s order to monitor The Power in its seventh basement lock-down. Hermes has a sickening feeling that Apollo’s suspicion of a security breach is true. Did Hermes fail in setting the protective charm over that evil force as well as mess up the planet? Eyes burned out by too many hours reviewing 24/7 security footage, he breaks for coffee. He gets two cups to go at the Olympus, Inc., cafeteria, one for himself and one for his new assistant, Roderick Waller, to whom he’s been a crappy boss so far. At least that’s one problem he can try to fix.
What’s behind Monique’s newly bulging midsection? Which will finish Clifford off first- -cat allergies or work stress? Is coffee enough to make Hermes a kinder boss?
