Last week, we left readers hanging- -what was our disguise for the community theater fundraiser? Lily, 9, are you ready for the Big Reveal of last week’s mystery costume?
I consent.
Uhm, yeah, like she says.
Okay, here we go. The folks who look at our Facebook page may have seen this already, but for those of you who don’t “do” Facebook, here you go:

1961 vintage disguise: The movie version of Truman Capote’s character Holly Golightly from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. . .
Much to my relief I was the only Holly Golightly at Wine, Dine and Death, the annual Little Theater of Walla Walla fundraiser. And I confess, I did spend a wee bit of money at the Silent Auction.
Anything a kid would like?
Unfortunately for you, no. It’s wine tasting for four, courtesy of Browne Family Vineyards.
Ew! Wine tastes icky. Dad let me try a sip once.
I rejoice to say domestic wines have come a long way from the c. 1965 jugs of burgundy available on grocery store shelves. It was fun to have the top bid for once, and I’m looking forward to getting together with 3 wine loving friends sometime between now and the end of 2027.
It was even more fun, though, to debut that wonderful hat we revealed last week! Also, I met four pairs of Jay Gatsby and Daisy, among other literary character VIPs.
Costumes are appropriate in Walla Walla this month. We’re a town that decorates for Halloween almost as much as we do for Christmas.
“We”? I haven’t noticed any decorating at our house.
Guilty as charged, Lily. When I was your age people more or less put jack-o-lanterns on the porch and called it good. But not here in Walla Walla! I meant to get more photos for today’s blog, and I hope I’ll have time for this in the next two weeks. To pique your interest, here is a small, hastily-snapped sample of what I saw today:
You could say Walla Walla gets into the spirit of romping with the spirits.
Or not.
Humor me for once, Lily. Two more weeks and then it’s All Hallows, All Saints, and All Souls Day, bam-bam-bam! I predict the outdoor decorations will increase exponentially between now and then.
Expo what?
A whole lot, 9.
Because now that we have less than 12 hours of daylight in each twenty-four (sigh), it’s time to latch onto something fun to compensate for the loss of sun.
